Glenwood Railroad Museum

413 7th St, Glenwood Springs, Colorado

The Glenwood Railroad Museum is located in the East wing of the historic Glenwood Springs Railroad Station. The station was built by the Denver & Rio Grande railroad in 1904, and our museum has been in operation since 2003. Since our opening we have acquired a collection of railroad artifacts, pictures and books. In the first room you enter (Ladies Waiting Room) we have a large scale model railroad featuring Rio Grande steam and diesel-powered trains along with a gallery of historic, regional railroad pictures, and a collection of memorabilia and artifacts from the seven railroads that have served the Roaring Fork Valley. In the eastern-most (Motorcar-express) room you will find a 7.5" gauge live steam locomotive, a Rio Grande rail motorcar ("speeder"), railroad semaphore signals removed from Glenwood Canyon, o-gauge toy trains, telegraphs, etc. We have a gift shop selling books, t-shirts, railroad souvenirs and model railroad equipment. We serve the community by conducting school tours and serving as the "point of first contact" for Amtrak visitors to our area.
